Job Description
Curtin Harbor Services (Curtin Maritime) is hiring Deckhands/ABs for its ASD ship-assist and escort tugs in the San Pedro Bay Port Complex (Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach). Deckhands work under the Port Captain and Vessel Captain on line handling for ship assist, escort and barge work: making up on the hip, pushing and hawser towing; operating the quick-release towing winch or hook; rigging escort bridles; fendering; VHF etiquette with pilots; crane signaling; and marlinspike work. They also stand engine-room watches, do basic maintenance, and handle house duties such as cooking, cleaning and provisioning. Experienced hands are expected to progress to running the deck. Benefits: medical, dental, vision, STD, AD&D/life and a 401(k) with match.
