Operations Manager, for Moran New York/New Jersey. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position reporting to the General Manager. $115000 - $130000 / Year •Full-Time Moran Towing Corporation is one of the oldest companies in America and has prospered by continuously reinventing itself for over 160 years. POSITION SUMMARY The Operations Manager oversees marine and shoreside daily operations. Responsibilities focus on promoting and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines. The Operations Manager effectively works in an unsupervised capacity, ‘owns’ the job, and communicates effectively with both shoreside and afloat employees. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited, to the following: Operations Monitor daily vessel job assignments. Initiate and be responsive to communications with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to port safety and efficiency. Manage the Dispatch team, including scheduling, qualification, and training of Dispatchers. Monitor and review Dispatch process and performance. Review data entries in Helm. Be available to fill in as Dispatcher, if necessary. Manage SMS administration and the Port Compliance Calendar. Verify SMS performance with frequent visits aboard vessels. Assign drills and verify proper performance and documentation. Schedule and participate in audits. Manage assignments, training, certification, and qualifications of crewmembers. Perform and document Visible Leadership Visits. Make recommendations for improvements to the SMS. Assist the OUM in responding to bid inquiries. Compile and review the “Due-In” list. Assist as directed with recruiting. Participate in Incident Investigation and Corrective Actions. Assist in budgeting and monitoring financial performance. Accounting and Administration Manage the outgoing invoice process. Assisting with Accounts Payable (COR360). Perform data entry and review within the claims database (Origami). Perform data entry and review within the operations database (OMS). Manage the Line Program. Manage the requisition process including seeking efficiencies for cost control. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 2-year college degree; however, relevant work experience will be considered with education. Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience. Valid driver’s license and Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Proven successful management experience and demonstrated strong leadership skills and decisive decision-making. Ability to work effectively individually and as a team member. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to take initiative, multi-task, interpret data, speak publicly, operate in stressful situations, and make quick decisions. Demonstrated good judgment, initiative, and organizational skills. Intermediate level Microsoft Office computer skills, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors’ degree in transportation or marine engineering. Operations experience in the maritime industry. USCG licensed Master of Towing Vessels. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The ability to board a vessel while moored via barge landing or underway via crew boat and withstand tug motion and high temperature areas for periods of time; cross bulwarks, walk on uneven surfaces, and climb ladders and stairs; and stoop, bend; and sit for prolonged periods of time using a keyboard and computer screen. WORKING CONDITIONS Hours of work are 9 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday, but the incumbent must be available, if required, during off-hours, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
