Company Overview: Stevens Towing Co. of North Carolina, based out of Edenton NC, is looking for an individual with a maritime background to work aboard one of our tugboats as an operator. Stevens Towing Co of North Carolina owns and operates tugboats along with a large fleet of jumbo hopper barges which are used to move Steel, DRI, Wood Chips, Scrap Steel, and Pig Iron. Our tugs primarily travel between our home port in Edenton NC north to Norfolk, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Camden NJ as well as south to Morehead City, Wilmington, and Charleston SC. Requirements: · Merchant Mariners Credentials · TWIC Card · Master of Towing - 200 Ton · Valid Drivers License · Cargo Knowledge, Radar Certification, First Aid/CPR, Injury Prevention · Supervisory Skills Essential Functions: · Work schedule is 28 days on and 14 days off– Paid travel to and from the vessel · Crew Safety, vessel safety and environmental protection (Master has ultimate responsibility). · Pre-voyage inspections and voyage planning · Implement safe operation and navigation of the vessel on its planned voyage · Relieving the Captain in the safe operation and navigation of vessel. Neither operator should be operating the vessel for more than 12 hours in any 24-hour period. · Ensuring the ability for up-to-date and correct charting · Maintain a radio communication log reflecting all vessel-to-vessel communications, waypoints, and job start, stop, and standby times · Loading of vessel food stores · Assisting the Master Captain in any of his/her other responsibilities as needed or requested Job Type: Full-time Pay: Day Rate is determined based on experience. Starting pay is $525 per day.
