Job Description
Madeline Island Ferry Line is hiring a ferry captain for runs between Bayfield and La Pointe (Madeline Island), WI. The captain navigates and docks the ferries safely day or night, in heavy traffic, fog, rain or snow; supervises deckhands; follows Coast Guard rules of the road and FCC radio rules; performs and documents USCG Streamlined Inspection Program checks; handles incident reporting (including drug/alcohol testing follow-up); sells and collects fares on a handheld; loads freight; carries mail; and does cleaning, painting and preventive maintenance logged in the Sinex PM system. Reports to the Marine Operations Manager. Shifts include weekends, holidays, nights and early mornings in all weather. Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing apply.
