200 Ton Mate About Alpine Ocean Seismic Survey Alpine are experts in acquiring, analyzing and interpreting data from marine offshore, nearshore and freshwater environments. Our clients deal with complex and challenging projects that require high-quality data, on-time delivery, and exacting safety standards. Job Summary: Alpine is looking for a 200 Ton Mate to join our rapidly growing team. The Mate must be able to understand and carry out the orders and directions of the Captain and the Vessel Manager. Mate must be prepared to assume command in the event of incapacity of the Captain. This job description does not cover all the required duties, activities, functions and responsibilities of the position. Responsibilities: Safely navigate while conducting inshore and offshore surveys. Take responsibility for maintenance and cleanliness of the vessel while assisting running the crewman duties. Stands wheelhouse watch alternating with captain. Oversees safety of vessel including all installed equipment and inspections thereof. Instructs Deckhands in seamanship skills. Inspects for cleanliness of vessel. Inventory supplies and order as appropriate. Monitor onboard usage to ensure supplies are utilized in an efficient manner. Requirements/Certifications/Licenses: Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Mate High school diploma or equivalent degree required. Survey, drilling, or sampling experience is a strong plus. Solid computer skills. Minimum 200 Ton Mate Near Coastal USCG license. Radar observer endorsement required. Current STCW Basic training course, and valid STCW Medical Certificate. Valid First Aid/ CPR certificates. TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential. Valid passport. Valid, clean state driver’s license. Legally authorized to work in the US, without restriction. Must be able to communicate in English both written and verbal (including over the telephone and radio) and effectively direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion. Must be able to train assigned workers. Must be able to fairly evaluate subordinates. Must be able to understand and use information in material safety data sheets.
